A photographic Hero

For me? That would be Ansel Adams.
I grew up with his Books of Photography on our coffee table. I'm not really sure why, neither of my parents at the time seemed all that interested in Photography. However I am greatful.
Ansel Adams was part of what inspired me to become a photographer. His works are classic, never to be forgotten. An inspiration to many besides myself.
Ansel Adams was born on February 20, 1902 and he died on April 22 1984. His first Portfolio was contracted in 1927 and it included his most famous Picture "Monolith". Mr. Adams First portfolio, with the sponsorship and promotion of Albert Bender, was a great success. Earning nearly $4,000, and he quickly began receiving commercial assignments to photograph wealthy people who had purchased his portfolio.
Ansel Adams is most well known for his pictures of massive landscapes, in black an white. His artistic eye served him well in helping him to become one of the most famous photographers known to mankind. His legend lives on in the multiple portfolios of his work that were published.

Our Wedding Rings

My husband Left his wedding ring behind while he is at work today. Why? Because he's afraid of getting it caught on something and ruining it or for some reason having to have it cut off due to a freak accident. So, I took full advantage of this and decided to Take pictures of our wedding rings.

I wanted to use things in the picture that applied to things we enjoy or are significant in our lives. In the top and bottom pictures I decided to use my wedding dress as the background of the picture. In the top picture: the pearls give the picture an elegant look that I love.

I used a Playstation Portable, mainly
because we have a big thing for Video games. They tend to be something we can do and enjoy doing together. Video Games have been a big part of our lives. I really enjoyed taking these pictures, Experimenting with new Ideas and being creative with props I wouldn't generally have thought to use.

Exploration

My kids, like most others, love to explore. One of their most exciting adventures is "Creature
Hunting". They have these clear plastic containers that they received in their kids meals at Whataburger during one of our family outings.
The container has air holes and a magnifying glass lid so that they can observe their finds. Generally they will ask their daddy but occasionally they will ask me or just go alone.
On this occasion My daughter ventured out by herself and asked me to take a picture of her find when she returned. She was very excited, this particular grasshopper was very difficult to catch. Not to mention she did it with her bare hands as well. She had very good reason to be proud of herself.
I wanted to get a good close up of her find because I wanted to make sure it was a clear image so she could look at it and recognize it. So I went for a macro shot. Not too close so you could see her in the background but not far enough away that you couldn't see why she looked proud of herself so this is what I came up with.
Not only can you clearly see her prize but you can see her proudly showing off what she worked so hard to catch!

Memory Lane

My sister was trying to take a picture of this flower yesterday. The kids were coloring. Chaos was everywhere. Ok maybe not but usually that's just how it is.
My sister was trying to capture this flower though and as I was watching her I noticed the drawing and the crayons. I couldn't resist giving it a try.
Little did i know it, but i created for myself a little trip down Memory Lane. The smell of crayons and flowers. The feel of the paper with colored wax all over it. sometimes it's amazing to me how fast we grow up.
I ended up receiving much more than i was asking for with this picture. The beautiful colors and the smells. It was a wonderful experience. I hope that it brings you plesant memories as well.

Dreamland

I remember the days when every car ride i took that lasted more than 5 minutes I would fall asleep, leaned up against the door. Ok so, perhaps I don't remember first hand. Maybe it's the years of my parents telling me about it that I remember. Even so that doesn't make this image any less adorable. This is my son Gabriel.

Gabriel Fell asleep on the way home from church on Sunday afternoon. I couldn't resist the photo opp. It's not very often during the day that he looks this serene
. He's the kind of little man that has to be constantly moving and getting into things.
I noticed something about this picture after I got it uploaded onto my computer. If you look at the window you can see the cars zooming by (Or us zooming by the cars). I love the character it adds to the picture.

Innocence

It took a little while but with the help of a few friends we figured out what specific aspect we thought of when we saw this image. "Innocence". She doesn't seem to have another care in the world other than to leisurely run her fingers through the dirt. Ah, the joys of being a child. Therefore innocent.
My brother is home from Utah where he was serving the Air force. He is currently on leave before he ships out for a new assignment in Japan and wanted to do something special for our Father's Birthday. He went and got some steaks for everyone and was grilling steaks while the kids were playing in the yard.
This is a Picture of my daughter Amanda. I was talking to my brother and happened to look over and catch her playing in the dirt. Lucky for my I tend to keep my camera on hand as often as I possibly can. I was able to stealthily snap this picture before she looked up and noticed me.

My Children

I love taking pictures of my children. Why? Because they are so innocent. I love to catch them unaware with my camera. My children pose for the camera, if they see me with my camera out they will squeal with joy and start making demands: "Mommy! Take a picture of me like this!!" Or "Mommy! Take a picture Of this Bug!!!"
And often I will oblige them, Because it makes them happy. However as often as I can I try my hardest not to let them see me.
There is no doubt that their posed pictures are adorable, but there is more emotion in a natural "I don't know mommy is looking" setting.

Personally I really enjoy getting pictures of Children when they are at their happiest or doing something they enjoy. Or when they are experimenting, learning and thriving in the environments they love best.
